Do you have a cat who won't use the litter box?
This is a frustrating problem we hear about a lot. There are loads of
reasons that cats refuse to use their litter box.
Litter box avoidance and inappropriate elimination (urinating outside the litter box) is common.
It may mean that the litter box facilities are sub par, that there's a
medical problem or, in the case of marking behavior, that your
cat is trying to signal something.
Today, we're looking at 8 of the most common reasons we see for cats to
avoid the litter box:
1.
Dirty Litter Box
2.
Litter Box Location
3.
Changes in the Litter Box
4.
Litter Box Size and Shape
5.
Environmental Changes
6.
Territorial Disputes
7.
Overcrowding

Your Cat is Exhibiting Marking
Behavior
Punishing your cat for inappropriate elimination will not solve the
problem. It will only teach him or her to fear and avoid you, and
eliminate when you're not around. In fact, it can actually make the
problem worse, since inappropriate elimination is often caused by stress,
and punishment will only add to her stress level. Take a close look at each of these eight potential hurdlesand see if
you can find a solution to help your cat.
